Readings/Listenings/Viewings
We will be engaging with supporting texts, podcasts, and videos throughout the course. Some readings/listenings/viewings have been cross-listed between days, to highlight the interwoven nature of the themes we will cover throughout the course. The reading/listening/viewing list includes a mixture of academic and popular content from fields such as disability studies, feminist philosophy, indigenous methodology, sustainability science, and environmental humanities. These, in addition to ecological psychology, are the primary fields from which the theory underlying this curriculum emerged. Due to the current state of the field, and the limited accessibility of the language used, no texts directly from ecological psychology have been included here.
The supporting readings/listenings/viewings are listed as required, recommended, and cited. Required materials are those that course participants are asked to read before attending class, such that the thoughts and concepts embedded within can enhance the experience we have, both together and as individuals. Due to the intensive out-of-class work required from the Attentive Repetition and Log assignments, only one (sometimes brief) reading has been assigned for the majority of instructional class days. Recommended readings are supporting texts, which will be helpful for the student eager to dive deeper into a particular topic, as well as for instructors interested in teaching this course and seeking a more robust understanding of how the material was brought together. Required and recommended readings are annotated on their respective pages. Cited items are those that have been employed in the elaboration of these materials though are neither required nor explicitly recommended for the purposes of learning and facilitating this this course.
