Before class:
- Ensure that you have finished a complete draft of your (multi)media essay and are prepared to share a five minute presentation with the class about how your essay materialized and what you will be submitting as your final assignment.
- Ensure that you have posted your short answers to the presentation questions on your Log before class begins.
- Though this is an informal presentation and you are not required to prepare slides, you may wish to share images and or audio with class. Should this be the case, please submit all presentation materials to the instructor before class begins such that they can be queued up in advance and be prepared to describe any images out loud as part of your presentation.
During class:
Showcase!
Each student will present to the class for five minutes about the process and product that has become their final (multi)media essay. Presentations will answer the following questions:
- What media have you chosen to use?
- How do these media serve to record and represent the encounters you have had this semester during your attentive repetition practice?
- How and why have you selected particular excerpts from your log to share?
After class:
After today’s showcase you have a chance now to make a few final edits to your (multi)media essay, which is due on the last day of the semester, before the exam period begins. Should you wish to speak with the instructor about your submissions, please sign up to do so during the scheduled exam period.
May you take what you have learned in this class and extend it outward and inward, carrying it with you where appropriate and taking it out when the occasion strikes. Because, as Marilyn Strathern (1992) wrote, “it matters what ideas one uses to think other ideas (with)” (10).
